Nifty below 10,750 mark; Yes Bank drops 5%

All the sectoral indices are trading in the negative zone, PSU bank, IT and metal index slipped by 1% each.


Equity benchmark indices opened lower on Tuesday after the central bank agreed to address the center's call to share its surplus reserves. All the sectoral indices are trading in the negative zone, PSU bank, IT and metal index slipped by 1% each.
   
    The Sensex slumped 131 points to 35,643 in the opening trade, while the broader Nifty50 opened below the psychological 10,750 mark.

Shares of Yes Bank fell 6% in the morning trade. In a third resignation from the Yes Bank board, independent director R. Chandra shekhar put in his papers, the private sector lender said in regulatory filing on Monday.    
    Oil marketing companies gained as crude prices slipped. GAIL shares jumped nearly 3%, HPCL was up 2.5%.
   
    The Indian rupee strengthened for the sixth consecutive session against the US dollar, its longest winning streak since October 2017. It opened higher by 19 paise at 71.45 per dollar on Tuesday vs. previous close 71.64.

 GAIL, HPCL, Eicher, IndusInd Bank and BPCL were the top gainers, while Yes Bank, Tech Mahindra, Hindalco, HCL Tech and JSW Steel among top losers on the Nifty50 index.
   
    Volatility index India VIX slipped 1.66% to 16.80.


    Out of 2,044 stocks traded on the NSE, 576 advanced, 965 declined, and 503 remained unchanged. A total of five stocks registered a fresh 52-week high, while 17 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
